For a single mom, raising a teenage daughter could be easier more than raising a son. Here are a few tips on how to make your daughter turn into the responsible and dashing young woman.
1
Make her your girl friend. Make her feel like she could talk to you any time about anything. Shop with her. Dine out with her. Do girly things with her.
2
Impose discipline. Limit your “being a girlfriend.” Make sure that no matter what happens, you’ll still be her disciplinarian.
3
Befriend her friends. Who is she with? Take time to know who she’s always with. Invite her to your house. Host a slumber party for them.
4
Give her a chance to do it her way. Don’t be too hard on her. Girls are softer. When they fail, they’re more likely to go back to you right away. Give her a chance to learn things her way.
5
Trust her. Trusting her will encourage make her become a more responsible person.
6
Accept the fact that she’s growing up. She’s no longer your baby. Give her more space.
7
When she starts dating, be open to sensitive topics. Be ready for sensitive topics like sex and romance. Be open about discussing such topics with her.
8
Encourage her to dream big. Help her set her goals. Help her become the person whom she wants to be.
9
Give her assurance. Assure her that no matter what happens, you will always be there for her. You may re-marry, she may get married but she will always have as special place in your heart.
10
Treat her like a woman, not a girl. Don’t meddle with her decisions too much (unless she asks you too). Most teenage girls wouldn’t want to be told to. Just relax. After all, she’s already a grown up.
