Getting knots in the line of a kite is a real pain, so try to avoid it from happening.
1
Put the reel down where you are, securing the line on the reel so that no more line can unravel as may happen if it’s very windy and the kite takes off from where it has fallen.
2
Take the line lightly between thumb and fingers and walk towards the kite, sliding your fingers along the line as you go, keeping an eye out for any tangles already there.
3
When you get to the kite, pick it up.
4
Walk back to your reel the long way round, taking a wide circular route so as not to double back on the line which may cause it to get tangled and cause irritating knots.
5
When you get back to the reel, put the kite on the ground, pick up your reel, and slowly wind in the line, checking for possible tangles as you wind. While doing this, you may have to put your foot on the kite to prevent it from flying off again.
